Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Harris is the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. She is a member and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for health care, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is best known for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
